About This Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst to lead the Volcker regulatory reporting workstream within Market Risk Technology. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who can connect regulatory and market risk requirements with data, systems, controls, and delivery execution.
You will act as the primary BSA lead for the workstream, partnering with the Volcker Office, Market Risk, Product Control, Compliance, Regulatory Supervisory Management, Engineering team and other business and technology stakeholders. You will define clear requirements, drive analysis and testing, coordinate decisions and dependencies, and help ensure that reporting solutions are accurate, controlled, supportable, and ready for production.
The successful candidate combines strong business analysis and stakeholder leadership with solid technical skills and the ability to investigate data, understand system flows and challenge solution designs. They should also be comfortable using modern productivity tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to improve analysis and delivery; experience with specific programming languages such as Python is beneficial but not required.
Key Accountabilities
Workstream Leadership and Delivery
· Lead the end-to-end business systems analysis activities for the Volcker workstream, from discovery and scope definition through implementation and post-release validation.
· Establish and maintain the requirements plan, analysis approach, decision log, traceability, delivery dependencies, risks, and stakeholder communication cadence.
· Break complex regulatory and business objectives into clear, prioritized deliverables and support estimation, sequencing, planning, and execution across multiple teams.
· Provide senior-level guidance to analysts and delivery partners, promote consistent BSA practices, and raise issues early with practical options and recommendations.
Requirements and Process Analysis
· Elicit, analyze, validate, document, and manage business, data, functional, non-functional, control, and operational requirements.
· Translate requirements into detailed specifications, process flows, use cases, acceptance criteria, source-to-target mappings, control requirements, and implementation artefacts.
· Assess current-state reporting processes and system capabilities; identify gaps, impacts, upstream and downstream dependencies and target-state opportunities.
· Lead requirement walkthroughs and ensure shared understanding among business stakeholders, architects, engineers, testers, production support, and control partners.
· Maintain traceability from regulatory and business requirements through solution design, test evidence, implementation, and production validation.
Volcker and Market Risk Reporting
· Apply knowledge of market risk and Volcker regulatory reporting to support quantitative measurements, trading-desk reporting, controls, commentary, approvals, and regulatory submission processes.
· Analyze requirements and data associated with risk factor sensitivities, Value-at-Risk (VaR), profit and loss attribution, internal limits and usage, positions, and transaction volumes.
· Partner with reporting and control functions to define data validation, reconciliation, reasonableness checks, exception handling, sign-off evidence, and remediation requirements.
· Support interpretation of regulatory change and business policy changes by assessing impacts to reporting processes, data, systems, controls, and operating procedures.
· Investigate reporting issues and data anomalies, coordinate root-cause analysis, and define sustainable remediation and validation plans.
Data and Technical Analysis
· Perform hands-on analysis of complex datasets using SQL, Excel, and other appropriate tools to validate requirements, reconcile results, identify data-quality issues, and support decision-making.
· Use SQL extensively to query, profile, reconcile, and validate Volcker data; analyze complex joins, transformations, calculations, and stored logic; and investigate data-quality or reporting issues across the end-to-end reporting process.
· Analyze and validate Tableau dashboards, reports, data sources, calculated fields, filters, and extracts to confirm that Volcker reporting outputs accurately reflect business requirements and underlying data.
· Trace and troubleshoot discrepancies between SQL-based data processing and Tableau presentation layers, partnering with engineering and reporting teams to identify root causes and verify sustainable fixes.
· Trace data from source systems through transformations, calculations, controls, and reports; document lineage and identify implementation gaps or unintended impacts.
· Participate in solution-design discussions and provide informed input on interfaces, APIs, file-based integrations, data models, batch processes, control points, and operational support needs.
· Use Python scripting where appropriate to automate repeatable analysis, reconciliation, data-quality checks, test-data preparation, and evidence generation.
· Use Microsoft Copilot responsibly to accelerate drafting, summarization, analysis, test preparation, and knowledge capture while following organizational data-security and governance requirements.
Testing and Production Readiness
· Define the overall test approach and develop detailed test scenarios and expected results across functional, system, integration, regression, business acceptance, and user acceptance testing.
· Coordinate test execution, requirements traceability, defect triage, evidence collection, stakeholder sign-off, and implementation-readiness activities.
· Validate calculations, data completeness, control behavior, report outputs, operational procedures, and downstream impacts before release.
