About Nerdio
At Nerdio , our mission is to simplify the lives of IT professionals and maximize their Microsoft cloud and end user computing investments.
We support organizations of all sizes looking to deploy, manage, and cost-optimize native Microsoft technologies. We partner with Enterprises and Managed Service Providers all over the world to add value on top of their existing native Microsoft investments like Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Windows 365, and Microsoft Intune.
Created in 2016, Nerdio has always taken a market-leading and collaborative approach to cloud deployment and management. In fact, our product roadmap is greatly influenced by the regular feedback we receive from having seen companies deploy AVD into production environments several thousand times using Nerdio technology.
Today, Nerdio is used in over 50 countries by more than 15,000 organizations of every size and vertical. We’re committed to delivering exceptional service and support, which starts with identifying and supporting the best staff possible.
We are a fast-moving, nimble company looking for individuals who are collaborative, empathetic, driven and who love to move at the speed of light. If you want to be part of the AVD transformation that Microsoft and Nerdio are leading, then we want to speak with you.
About the role
We are looking for a hands-on Controller to own the integrity, timeliness, and scalability of our accounting operations. Reporting to the VP, Accounting, you will lead the day-to-day close, manage our US and international audits, help us build a scalable pricing, packaging, and billing engine for our multi-channel business, serve as a senior technical accounting resource, and build the processes and team that keep us audit-ready year-round, not just at year-end. This is a role for someone with technical depth, sound business judgment, and a bias for building. We welcome both experienced Controllers and standout Assistant Controllers ready to step into their first Controller role.
What you'll do
Close & Financial Reporting
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, driving continuous reduction in close cycle time while maintaining accuracy
Review account reconciliations, journal entries, and flux analyses; ensure clean, GAAP-compliant financial statements
Prepare and review financial reporting packages for the board, PE sponsor, and lenders, including covenant compliance
Technical Accounting
Apply US GAAP to complex SaaS and usage-based transactions, including ASC 606 (revenue recognition), ASC 340-40 (capitalized commissions), ASC 718 (stock-based compensation), ASC 805 (business combinations), and ASC 842 (leases)
Account for revenue across our multi-channel business (direct, partner and reseller, and marketplace), including principal vs. agent, gross vs. net, and channel incentive considerations
Draft and maintain technical accounting memos and accounting policies
Evaluate the accounting impact of new contracts, pricing models, and strategic transactions, including M&A
Audit & Controls
Lead the consolidated US audit as primary liaison to our Big 4 auditor; manage PBC lists, timelines, and year-round audit readiness
Own audits at key international entities, including the UK and Germany
Design, document, and monitor internal controls with a SOX-readiness mindset and drive continuous improvement
Coordinate tax compliance with external advisors, including sales/use, income, and international
Global Payroll & Compliance
Review and ensure compliance for US payroll and international Employer of Record (EOR) services across all countries where Nerdio employs people
Team Leadership
Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team (GL, revenue, AP, payroll, and related functions)
Set clear expectations, build succession, and foster a culture of ownership and accountability
Systems & Process
Act as a champion for our finance tech stack (NetSuite, Ramp, FloQast), driving automation and efficiency
Identify and implement process improvements, including AI and automation tooling, to scale without proportional headcount
Pricing, Packaging & Billing
Be a key finance partner in building a nimble pricing, packaging, and billing solution that lets us launch and change offers quickly without breaking the close
Translate new pricing models and channel structures into scalable billing, revenue recognition, and reconciliation processes, working closely with Product, RevOps, and Systems teams
Ensure billing data flows accurately and consistently from each channel into NetSuite and the financial statements
Cross-Functional Partnership
Partner with FP&A, Revenue Operations, Legal, Sales Ops, and HR on forecasting, deal structures, and compensation accounting
Support finance integration for acquisitions and new entities
Contribute to the accuracy and understanding of SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, churn) alongside GAAP results
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Active CPA license
8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2-4 years in a Controller role, or a strong Assistant Controller / Accounting Manager ready for a first Controller role
Strong command of US GAAP, with demonstrated SaaS revenue recognition experience (ASC 606)
