The Role
Your Role
At Kyndryl, we design, build, manage, and modernize the mission-critical technology systems that the world depends on every day. As an AI Storage Engineer , you will play a critical role in supporting the high-performance storage platforms that power AI, machine learning, and large-scale compute environments.
You will be responsible for the operation, reliability, and performance of IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS) storage environments, ensuring seamless access to data across distributed AI and HPC workloads. Working closely with infrastructure, compute, networking, and platform engineering teams, you will help maintain large-scale storage clusters, optimize performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive continuous service improvements.
If you're passionate about enterprise storage, distributed file systems, and solving challenging performance problems at scale, this role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of AI infrastructure.
What You'll Do
Install, configure, administer, and maintain IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS) clusters, Network Shared Disks (NSDs), filesystems, file sets, and storage pools.
Monitor and optimize storage capacity, IOPS, latency, throughput, and overall cluster health to ensure high availability and performance.
Manage GPFS architecture components, including quorum nodes, storage policies, replication, tiering, and data lifecycle management.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and troubleshooting for complex storage, performance, connectivity, and filesystem issues across distributed environments.
Support storage lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching, migrations, capacity expansion, and performance tuning initiatives.
Develop and implement storage policies, quotas, data placement strategies, and automation processes to meet business and operational requirements.
Collaborate with compute, network, platform, and application teams to support AI, HPC, and data-intensive workloads.
Participate in incident response, problem management, operational readiness reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen service reliability.
Your Future at Kyndryl
At Kyndryl, learning and growth are part of everyday work. As an AI Storage Engineer, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting cutting-edge AI and high-performance computing environments while developing expertise in large-scale distributed storage systems.
You'll collaborate with experienced infrastructure specialists, architects, and platform engineers while expanding your knowledge across AI infrastructure, storage engineering, automation, SRE practices, and cloud technologies. Whether your career path leads toward storage architecture, site reliability engineering, infrastructure leadership, or AI platform engineering, Kyndryl provides the opportunities, training, and support to help you achieve your goals.
Who You Are
You’re good at what you do and possess the required experience to prove it. However, equally as important, you have a growth mindset and are keen to drive your own personal and professional development. You are customer-focused, someone who prioritizes customer success in their work. And finally, you’re open and borderless, naturally inclusive in how you work with others.
