Job Title: Engineer, Senior BTSW-HOST
Job Overview - Dept Description and Job Duties:
The Bluetooth Common IP team is seeking a highly analytical and hands-on Senior Engineer to design, develop, port, integrate, and sustain Bluetooth host software across APSS and Q6/LPI environments. The engineer will be a key contributor to the full-stack architecture in which Bluetooth host protocols, profiles, application services, and supporting platform interfaces progressively evolve to meet Days of Use (DOU) targets for our products in XR & Wearables.
This is an implementation-focused role for an exceptional developer who can work from Bluetooth specification and system architecture through detailed design, efficient C code, integration, debugging, and productization. The engineer is expected to use AI-assisted engineering responsibly to accelerate understanding, development, reviews, test creation, failure analysis, and documentation while independently validating all outputs.
Key Responsibilities
• Bluetooth stack development: Develop and maintain Bluetooth Classic, Bluetooth Low Energy, and LE Audio host protocols, profiles, services, and product-specific use cases.
• Platform adaptation: Port or redesign OS, memory, threading, timer, storage, security, IPC, transport, logging, and diagnostic dependencies for a resource-constrained low-power execution environment.
• Architecture and interfaces: Define clean, scalable module boundaries and APIs between the Bluetooth stack, controller transport, audio services, offload framework, OEM applications, Android/APSS services, and Q6 platform components.
• End-to-end ownership: Own features from requirements and feasibility through design, implementation, unit testing, integration, interoperability, performance optimization, issue resolution, and release support.
• Protocol analysis: Translate Bluetooth Core and profile specifications into robust implementations and use protocol-level reasoning to diagnose failures across host, controller, transport, peer device, and application layers.
• Performance and robustness: Optimize memory footprint, compute utilization, latency, concurrency, power behavior, and recovery paths for embedded and low-power targets.
• AI-assisted engineering: Use approved AI coding and analysis tools to accelerate code comprehension, solution exploration, test generation, log triage, documentation, and repetitive development tasks. Apply engineering judgment, security discipline, source review, and thorough validation before adoption.
• Collaboration and technical leadership: Partner with Bluetooth firmware, audio, systems, platform, application, test, product, and customer engineering teams. Drive design reviews, mentor engineers, identify risks early, and communicate decisions and trade-offs clearly.
Qualifications needed
• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• 6+ years of embedded software development experience, with strong hands-on development in C/C++ for wireless connectivity or comparable embedded products.
• Strong working knowledge of Bluetooth architecture, host-controller interactions, and Bluetooth Classic/BLE protocols, with the ability to scale rapidly into unfamiliar protocols, profiles, specifications, and product use cases.
• Excellent C programming, data-structure, concurrency, memory-management, and defensive-programming skills.
• Strong analytical problem-solving ability, including decomposition of ambiguous system issues, hypothesis-driven debugging, trade-off evaluation, and root-cause isolation across software and hardware boundaries.
• Experience with IPC, multithreading, synchronization, transport interfaces, embedded storage, logging, and debugging of distributed or multi-processor systems.
• Ability to read specifications, architecture documents, code, traces, and logs and convert them into clear designs and reliable implementations.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including design documentation, technical presentations, and cross-functional reviews.
Minimum Qualifications:
· At least 3-6 years’ experience in embedded SW development using the C programming language for Wireless connectivity products
· Demonstrated ability to design, port, debug, and optimize complex software on Linux and/or RTOS environments.
· Experience porting a protocol stack to MCU, or RTOS-based low-power execution environments.
· Practical experience using enterprise-approved generative AI or coding assistants, with a strong understanding of validation, confidentiality, licensing, and secure-development expectations.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Hands-on experience with Bluetooth host stack.
· Understanding of Bluetooth controller transports and arbitration, including UART, SPI/I3C or comparable inter-processor/controller interfaces.
· Experience integrating Bluetooth audio and connectivity services, including A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, LE Audio, audio routing, and session control.
· Familiarity with Bluetooth SIG qualification, specification interpretation, interoperability events, and contribution to standards or technical working groups.
· Experience with Bluetooth sniffers, air traces, HCI snoop logs, protocol analyzers, embedded debuggers, crash dumps, and performance/power profiling.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics or Computer Science from an internationally recognized institution.
Keywords: C Programming, Bluetooth host Protocols, Bluetooth Profiles, LE Audio (LEA), BT, Sniffer, Air logs

Senior Engineer Competencies
· Exceptional developer: Produces readable, modular, testable, efficient, production-quality code and raises surrounding code quality through reviews and refactoring.
· Architecture-to-code ownership: Connects product goals to architecture, interfaces, implementation choices, and measurable exit criteria.
· Analytical depth: Moves from a user-visible symptom to packet flow, state, concurrency, memory, timing, transport, and platform root cause.
· Learning agility: Builds expertise quickly across protocols, profiles, controllers, audio paths, execution environments, and customer use cases.
· Execution leadership: Breaks down work, performs feasibility studies, estimates with assumptions, identifies dependencies and risks, and drives closure.
· Technical influence: Mentors engineers, leads reviews, and builds alignment through objective trade-offs.
· Responsible AI mindset: Uses AI to shorten the path to a verified solution without replacing engineering accountability.
· Full-stack mindset: Understand interactions across applications, framework, host protocols and profiles, controller interface, Q6 services, transports, audio, power, memory, storage, and diagnostics.
Engineer Expectations
· Ownership and accountability: Own assigned components and problems end to end, from requirements clarification through release readiness and post-release resolution, without waiting for detailed task-level direction.
· Hands-on engineering: Read code, write production software, create tests, review changes, reproduce failures, and debug on target hardware. Ground architecture recommendations in implementation evidence.
