Key Responsibilities Payment Transaction Accounting -Own end-to-end accounting for payment transaction flows across acquiring, ensuring accurate recognition of transaction volumes, merchant fees, interchange, scheme charges, and other payment-related revenues and costs -Ensure payment processor and scheme settlement reports are accurately mapped and recorded within the general ledger -Oversee accounting for settlement, safeguarding, and suspense accounts, ensuring appropriate classification and treatment of timing differences -Review payment-related journal entries and ensure completeness and accuracy ahead of monthly and year-end close -Ensure appropriate accounting treatment of transaction-related receivables and payables, refunds, reversals, chargebacks, and scheme fee accruals -Support accurate revenue recognition and transaction cost reporting -Work with Product, Operations, and payment partners to ensure new products, payment flows, schemes, and processor changes are correctly reflected in the accounting framework Safeguarding & Reconciliation -Own the financial reconciliation and control framework supporting the safeguarding of client funds, ensuring balances are accurately identified and reconciled in accordance with applicable requirements -Review and sign off daily and periodic reconciliations between internal ledgers, processor and scheme reports, settlement accounts, and bank statements -Establish escalation thresholds and resolution timelines for reconciliation breaks, ensuring material or aged items are investigated to root cause and resolved -Act as the Finance escalation point for complex reconciliation and settlement issues, working with processors, banking partners, and internal teams -Ensure safeguarding and reconciliation processes, controls, and documentation remain audit-ready and capable of supporting regulatory reporting -Drive improvements in reconciliation tooling, automation, and control design as transaction volumes and payment methods scale Payroll Accounting & Oversight -Review payroll outputs, payroll accounting, and related reconciliations -Coordinate with payroll providers and internal teams to ensure accurate processing and accounting -Oversee the Finance aspects of statutory deductions, payments, and submissions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Financial Reporting, Audit & Controls -Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and financial reporting under Lux GAAP and, where applicable, IFRS -Support Finance inputs into CSSF and other applicable regulatory reporting, particularly around safeguarding and payment activities -Support external and internal audits, including preparation of reconciliations, schedules, and supporting evidence -Maintain financial controls, documentation, and procedures across areas within the role's scope Management Information & Business Insight -Produce clear management information on transaction volumes, payment revenues, transaction costs, and settlement/reconciliation performance -Support monthly management and Board reporting, including analysis of payment economics and emerging trends -Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis relevant to payment activity and transaction costs -Provide financial insight to the CFO and wider management team to support commercial and operational decision-making Processes, Systems & Automation -Establish and document scalable processes and SOPs for payment accounting, reconciliation, and safeguarding-related Finance activities -Drive automation of high-volume reconciliation and transaction-accounting processes to reduce manual intervention as the business scales -Support implementation and development of accounting, reconciliation, and other Finance systems -Work cross-functionally with Finance, Product, Operations, Technology, and external partners to embed financial controls into new payment products and processes from the outset
