Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership and Vision
Define and communicate a multi-year software vision and strategy for the Bangalore CT organization, aligned with global CT business priorities, product roadmaps, and customer needs.
Translate business objectives into clear engineering goals, measurable outcomes, and investment priorities.
Develop and drive strategic initiatives that improve engineering productivity, product quality, and time-to-market.
Anticipate technology and industry trends in CT and position the organization to take advantage of them.
2. Customer-Centric Innovation
Champion a deep understanding of customer pain points by engaging directly with radiologists, CT technologists, service teams, and hospital IT and operations stakeholders.
Partner with Product Management, Clinical, Applications, and UX teams to turn unmet customer needs into differentiated software solutions, for example simpler scan workflows, faster and more consistent exams, lower dose, better image quality, higher system uptime, and smarter automation.
Build an innovation pipeline that balances near-term customer improvements with longer-term breakthrough capabilities.
Encourage rapid experimentation through prototypes, proofs of concept, hackathons, and customer pilots to validate ideas early and often.
3. Innovation Speed and R&D Execution
Oversee end-to-end delivery of CT software programs, including innovation projects, new product introductions (NPIs), design changes, sustaining engineering, and field actions.
Ensure programs are delivered with high quality, on schedule, and within budget, with predictable and transparent execution.
Increase innovation velocity by shortening feedback loops, reducing cycle time, and removing organizational and technical bottlenecks, without compromising safety or compliance.
Use metrics such as DORA metrics, lead time, defect escape rate, and customer-reported issues to drive data-informed decisions and continuous improvement.
Identify and manage key delivery risks and cross-site dependencies proactively.
4. World-Class Software Engineering Practices
Establish and continuously raise the bar on engineering excellence, including code quality, design reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and release management.
Lead the adoption of modern engineering practices and tools, including test automation, simulation and virtual scanner environments, infrastructure as code, observability, and AI-assisted development, adapted for a regulated environment.
Provide leadership on Lean and Agile principles at scale; coach teams on estimation, work sizing, backlog health, and flow efficiency.
Benchmark the organization against industry leaders and drive a roadmap toward best-in-class engineering maturity.
5. Quality, Safety, and Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all software activities comply with applicable medical device regulations and standards, and relevant cybersecurity requirements.
Build quality and compliance into everyday engineering workflows so that they support speed rather than slow it down.
Partner with Quality, Regulatory, and Systems Engineering leaders to ensure CT products meet compliance, controllership, radiation safety, and patient safety standards.
Ensure audit readiness and lead the organization's response to software-related CAPAs, field issues, and regulatory inquiries.
6. Technical Standards, Architecture, and Platforms
Partner with global system architects and cross-functional leaders to define future CT technology platforms that are scalable, secure, interoperable, and reusable across product lines.
Drive platform thinking and modular design to reduce duplication, speed up new feature delivery, and lower total cost of ownership.
7. Global Leadership and Collaboration
Lead the Bangalore CT software organization as an integral part of the global CT software team, with a "one team" mindset built on trust, shared goals, and seamless collaboration across geographies, cultures, and time zones.
Represent the Bangalore CT organization in global leadership forums and strengthen its visibility and impact across the business.
Work closely with global partners in Product Management, Systems Engineering, Hardware, Detector and Physics, Clinical, Service, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory.
8. Talent Management and Culture
Attract, develop, and retain top engineering talent in a highly competitive market.
Build strong technical and functional leadership benches, organizational models, and succession plans.
Create an inclusive, high-performance culture built on ownership, curiosity, psychological safety, and continuous learning.
Develop clear technical and managerial career paths, and mentor emerging leaders and senior technical experts.
9. Engineering Operations and Finances
