This is a 12-week internship during summer 2027.
As a Business Controller Intern on the Finance team, you'll spend 12 weeks embedded with our Business Controller group, helping manage and improve Coinbase's finance product launch review program. You'll coordinate work across Finance, Product, Engineering, Compliance, Legal, and Operations to ensure launch reviews are well-scoped, risks are identified, decisions are documented, and commitments stay on track. This role sits at the intersection of finance fundamentals, cross-functional coordination, and process improvement using data, AI, and automation.
What you'll do:
Coordinate finance product launch review workstreams across Finance and cross-functional partners, tracking owners, dependencies, risks, decisions, and deadlines through completion
Support launch reviews by evaluating requirement documents, determining stakeholder impact, and confirming the validity of test transactions
Maintain project plans, action-item trackers, launch dashboards, status updates, and process documentation to ensure clear visibility, consistent execution, and adherence to internal control frameworks
Facilitate follow-up with stakeholders to resolve open questions, address blockers, and keep launch deliverables on track
Identify opportunities to improve the launch review process through data, AI, automation, and standardized workflows
Collaborate cross-functionally with Controllership, Tax, Treasury, Risk, Product, Engineering, Compliance, Legal, and Operations to address the financial implications of product releases
Required Skills and Experience:
Currently pursuing a BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with coursework in US GAAP or financial reporting
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, including prioritizing competing deadlines, coordinating stakeholders, tracking action items, and driving follow-through
Proven ability to bring structure to ambiguous processes and communicate progress clearly, including providing status updates, surfacing risks and blockers, and aligning stakeholders on owners and next steps
Experience synthesizing data from multiple sources and presenting clear, structured findings to non-technical audiences
Hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g., LibreChat, Claude) and working knowledge of SQL or analytics platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Looker, or similar) for analysis, automation, or workflow improvement
Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality

Hourly Rate:
$40 — $40 USD
