CTC vs in-hand, in one minute

CTC (cost to company) is everything your employer spends on you: your gross salary, their PF contribution, sometimes a gratuity provision, and your variable pay. Your monthly bank credit starts from the gross, then removes your own PF (12% of basic), professional tax, and income tax (TDS). That’s why a ₹12 lakh CTC is roughly ₹90,000 a month in hand under the new regime — not ₹1 lakh.

Why is my in-hand salary so much lower than my CTC?

CTC counts money you never see monthly: the employer's PF contribution, gratuity provisions and your variable pay. Your payslip then deducts your own PF, professional tax and income tax from what remains.

Which tax regime should I pick?

Since the 2025 budget, the new regime wins for most salaried people — no tax up to ₹12 lakh of taxable income and a ₹75,000 standard deduction. The old regime can still win with large HRA plus full 80C. This calculator shows both so you don't have to guess.

How accurate is this?

It's an estimate. Companies structure basic, PF capping and gratuity differently, and professional tax is a state levy. Every assumption we make is shown below the result and can be changed.
